Tam Begbie is National Co-ordinator for Navigator Scotland. Navigator Scotland is a hospital based support team that connects with patients with a range of social issues, those include violence, alcohol or drug issues, mental health issues, domestic abuse, homelessness. Working with the individual they support and link them with services, both statutory and third sector that will help them to stabilise their lives and to move forward.
Tam was one of our first Navigators and has been with the project since 2015. He was promoted to Navigator National Coordinator in 2019 and is responsible for a team of 16 Navigators based at 7 hospitals across Scotland. Tam is also charged with project management and development.
Previous to working with Navigator Tam served in the armed forces combat infantry division, serving in Afghanistan with 3rd battalion of the royal regiment of Scotland.
Tam is dedicated and focused in helping others, using frameworks similar to that of Navigator Tam is working to develop support services that can help provide stability to people who have or may find themselves in situations that are physically and mentally harmful to themselves or others.
