I’ve been in the Scottish Government since 2003, primarily working over that time in communications starting in the central Communications Office organising ministerial events, communications and promotion of new policy development, handling media enquiries and being part of an on-call rota. I worked in policy for a short while in the Learning Directorate in drugs misuse education, sexual health and child protection. From there I moved back into central communications to Corporate Communications, writing all the articles for Saltire, the SG’s intranet. From there I moved to Agriculture and Rural Economy Directorate leading the communications team there covering stakeholder engagement, digital communications (internal and external) and marketing. More recently, I was Head of Census Communications at National Records of Scotland, leading a re-brand exercise, the national census marketing and advertising campaign including educational resources for schools, digital communications and stakeholder/community engagement. I am very pleased now to be leading on communications within the Leadership, Culture and Well-being Division to try to improve the health and social care workplace for staff who have really been at the forefront of this pandemic. I am also the Co-chair, alongside Dhruv Sharma, of the SG’s Race Allies Network, as achieving true race equality for all is something I am very passionate about.
Outside of work, I am a Mum of two boys (and a cat!) who keep me very busy and I love exploring nature with them – seeing new sights and making up creative adventures…pirates seem to be the fave! When I have the time, I like to bag munros, roller skate and watch arthouse cinema. My all-time favourite place to be is in a hot bubble bath with candles, music and gin! I am a people person (talkative!), and I look forward to making connections and working collaboratively with everyone going forward.
