An update on our communities work in Project Lift

August 12, 2020

By Sara Dewar

Project Lift Communities

Here at Project Lift we are on the lookout for ways to create spaces for leaders at every level in the health and social care system to come together to listen, learn, exchange, connect and grow.

Alongside many of our leaders in the Project Lift community, we were in the process of offering up some different community events across the early part of 2020. We hosted 2 face to face events in Edinburgh and Glasgow in January and February. Both these events focused on topics of interest and featured some fabulous speakers to initiate the conversations on the day. Feedback from those who attended welcomed the chance to connect, be inspired and provoked into thinking together as leaders in surviving the system and leading at every level.

Our plans for the rest of the series were postponed due to COVID19 and we took this time to develop a digital series of events, tailored to the needs highlighted through a discovery workshop process with some leaders in the Project Lift community. We are now excited to bring these events, in digital form, to the community, from September 2020 to March 2021.

The Events

Our intention is to run a series of highly collaborative and engaging digital events, each with a focus on sharing stories from our community. Following the last few months of immense change, Project Lift is pleased to now offer a space for members of our community to share insights on leadership, culture and wellbeing issues in health and social care, and to listen and respond with resources, support and connections. We will combine several longer events with some shorter community-hosted workshops, which together will provide multiple opportunities for our community to get involved, as well a diverse range of discussions.

5 Digital Events

Our longer events will each consider the question of what is good leadership through the lens of a topic. For example, one event will focus on what good leadership is in relation to wellbeing and resilience and another will focus on good leadership in relation to system change.

Each event is an opportunity to:

  • share stories and insights,
  • point each other to practical resources,
  • offer support and
  • encourage building lasting connections.

It is a space for us to collectively examine and make sense of important new insights generated over the last few months, as well as long-standing challenges from before the pandemic. We will also hear from a range of inspirational leaders from across health and social care.

3 Digital Conversations

Our three shorter digital events will be hosted by one or more members of the community. These workshops intend to help shape the narrative around a particular topic, chosen by the community members themselves. Again, we will harness the power of sharing stories at these workshops, with the host kicking us off and others contributing as well.

If you’re interested in attending, please go to our Project Lift community events page where the registration links are already up for the first 3 events, with more to follow – do watch out for them!
